Order Confirmation

What is COD order confirmation?

Direct answer

COD order confirmation is a quick check with the customer after checkout and before shipping, asking them to confirm they really want the order. It filters out impulse orders, fake orders, and wrong addresses while the parcel is still on your shelf, which is why it is the single most effective way to cut RTO.

What a confirmation actually checks

  • The customer still wants the order (impulse has not faded).
  • The items, quantities, and total are what they expect, so no surprise at the door.
  • The address and phone number are correct and complete.
  • The customer knows roughly when to expect delivery and what cash to prepare.

Why it works so well

Every RTO cause traces back to the silent gap between checkout and delivery. Confirmation closes that gap at the moment the customer is most engaged: right after they ordered. A refused parcel costs you double shipping; a canceled unconfirmed order costs you nothing.

Manual vs automated

Calling customers works but does not scale: agents reach 60-70% of people, calls go unanswered, and every order costs staff minutes. Automated confirmation on WhatsApp reaches customers where they already read messages, replies land in a written record, and the process runs at 2 AM as well as 2 PM. ReplAi merchants run this automatically; Blaze cut RTO from 30% to 15% after switching.
