Reducing RTO

Does address validation reduce RTO?

Direct answer

Yes. Wrong or incomplete addresses are one of the top RTO causes, and they are the cheapest to fix because the customer can correct a typo in seconds while the order is still unshipped. The best moment to validate is inside the confirmation conversation, by showing the address back and asking if it is right.

Why addresses fail in this region

  • Checkout forms built for Western address formats do not fit landmark-based directions ("behind the mosque, third floor").
  • Autofill inserts an old address the customer forgot to update.
  • Phone typos make the customer unreachable even when the address is fine.
  • In newer developments, official street names and what people actually call the place do not match.

Validation that works (and does not add friction)

  1. Echo the address in the confirmation message. "Delivering to: [address]. Is this correct?" Most customers scan it and fix problems immediately.
  2. Ask for a location pin when the address looks thin. One tap on WhatsApp, and your courier gets exact coordinates.
  3. Capture delivery notes conversationally. Floor, building color, "call when you arrive": couriers succeed far more often with these.
  4. Verify the phone implicitly. If the WhatsApp message delivers, the number is real; if it does not, that order deserves scrutiny before shipping.

Heavy-handed validation (forcing account creation, long forms) reduces conversions. Conversational validation inside a message the customer was getting anyway costs nothing. ReplAi does the echo-and-correct step on every confirmation and writes corrected addresses straight back to the Shopify order.
