Instagram DM Sales
What do unanswered Instagram DMs cost my store?
Direct answer
Every ignored DM asking about price, size, or availability is a buyer you already paid to attract, walking out. Count last week's unanswered or slow-answered buying questions, multiply by your average order value, and you have the leak. For most active stores it is a five-figure monthly number in EGP.
Run the audit on your own inbox
- Open last week's message requests and main inbox.
- Count messages with clear buying intent: "how much?", "available?", "do you have size 40?", "do you deliver to Mansoura?"
- Mark how many got an answer within an hour, within a day, or never.
- Multiply the never-and-next-day pile by your average order value, then by a conservative close rate (say a third of them would have bought).
Most merchants who do this once never argue about response speed again.
Why the loss is invisible
- Unanswered DMs do not show up in any dashboard. Lost web checkouts appear in analytics; lost conversations just sit there looking harmless.
- The ad money was already spent. These are people your content and ads successfully brought in; the marketing worked, the answering failed.
- Night and weekend messages, often half the volume, age out silently. A "bekam?" from 11 PM answered at 10 AM is usually already bought elsewhere.
What closing the leak looks like
The fix is answering every DM within seconds, at any hour, which is an automation problem rather than a hiring problem. Bronze grew DM sales 13x in a single month once ReplAi started answering everything instantly; the demand was already in the inbox.
